Genome biology

Our research projects aim at understanding the biology of prokaryotic and eukaryotic genomes. We are combining experimental approaches, based on genetics and genomics, to the quantitative study of genome structure and function based on bioinformatic analysis and modeling. The biology of genomes can only be understood by taking into account both the global mechanisms of genome functioning and their evolutionary history. In particular, we study the relationships between DNA replication, cell size, cell division, cell cycle, mutation rates, adaptation to environmental changes and genome evolution, using both bacteria and yeast as model organisms.
